You can't buy much with $5.00 these days! But, one thing you can buy is a good meal lovingly prepared. York inner city families eligible for services of York Rescue Mission will be coming to Stewartstown UMC on July 30th. They're being invited for a meal and then will see the dress rehearsal of SUMC's Summer musical Big! If you feel led to donate a meal, or help with planning and/or preparation, please see Mary Cadden, Kim Hoyt, Evelyn Barrows or Kathy Fix. Checks should be made payable to SUMC and noted York Rescue Mission Meal 7-30-2012. By the way, we are planning for 150 guests who will experience fellowship with family, friends and leaders, and the excitement of live theatre, all in a Christian atmosphere away from the inner city. A blessing for them and a blessing for us.

You can still register for summer camp!!  Even though the early registration deadline has passed, there is still plenty of room in almost every week of camp this summer!  There are camps for all ages, including adults, so grab a camp brochure from the window ledges outside the front doors of the sanctuary and check out the options.   Intergenerational camps such as Mom and Me and Dad and Me are a great opportunity for parents to spend quality time with their young children, and a great introduction to camp for the kids.  Families might want to consider the Family Fishing Weekend at Wesley Forest May 25-27.  Even if you don't enjoy fishing, it's a great chance to be together in an outdoor setting, and the price is very affordable:  $99 per person in lodges or $89 per person in cabins.....and the best part is, children age 11 and under are FREE!!!  For more information or to register for camp, consult the camping website, www.susumcamps.org, or contact Joni Robison, 993-6690 or jonirob@verizon.net.  Don't forget that the church pays half the fee!

Martha and Mary Ministry As a result of our 40 Days of Community study, the Women’s Sunday School Class was challenged to identify and address a need in our community. We realized that our church has a meal ministry for new babies and when someone passes, but what about other times that we should reach out such as when there is an accident, illness or personal challenge? To respond to this need, we have started the Martha and Mary Ministry. Our group will prepare and freeze meals that will be kept at church in a locked freezer. We encourage anyone in our congregation to use these meals to reach out to those you identify as having a need. The key to the freezer will be kept in the church office. We hope that you will utilize this ministry. Our first meal prep day was Feb. 5th and 35 meals are currently available. As meals are used, another prep day will be scheduled.
We are looking for monetary support for this ministry. As we get started, we have costs for food, freezable containers, and the purchase of a locking freezer. If you feel drawn to support this ministry you can do so by making a donation using the pew envelopes. Please write “Martha and Mary Ministry” on your envelope.

Giant & Wal Mart/Sams Gift cards will be sold after both worship services in the nursery hallway. Please see Sandie Eckenrode or Jen Parker. Cards can also be purchased in the main office during weekday hours of 8am-noon & 1-4pm. The card can be used for weekly groceries and other supplies. A portion of the cost of the card is returned to SUMC to support missions. There are NO hidden fees. Buy your weekly groceries and support missions at the same time! Checks payable to SUMC.

We continually use email as a way to communicate with our church family. Our Family News is emailed every Friday. If you would like to be included in this electronic distribution, please contact the church office.

Please remember to write your offering number on your envelope or on your check when making donations. If you do not know your offering number, please contact the church office.
