WE ARE REACHING UP, REACHING IN, AND REACHING OUT
Summer Theatre

Stewartstown Summer Theatre is an outreach ministry of the Stewartstown United Methodist Church. It has been in existence since 1980 producing such shows as Beauty and the Beast, The Wizard of Oz, Narnia, Cinderella, Godspell, and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.  Through the years, over 2,500 youth have been involved in cast and crews.   This year’s production is Happy Days, the musical based on the 70’s hit television series.

The mission of the Summer Theatre is to provide an excellent summer theatre camp experience in the context of a loving faith community. During the rehearsal season, cast, crew and staff take part in weekly small groups and worship experiences. The intent is to help each person explore their relationship with the Lord, Jesus Christ and to encourage each one to grow in their commitment to Him.

Stewartstown Summer Theatre believes there is a place for every interested youth here. Because of this, the theatre maintains a “no cut” policy during auditions. Auditions are held in May during the weekend prior to Memorial Day.  The rehearsal season begins in early June and culminates with 10-14 shows at the beginning of August.  The staff is respectful that summer is also a season for family vacations, camps, and summer employment. They work diligently to schedule rehearsals that accommodate these needs.

For more information or to sign up for an audition, see the summer theatre website.  For additional questions, contact the music ministry office at 717-993-2507 x1.  Pastor McDowell serves as the producer for Summer Theatre.
