Scriptures to Memorize:

The Basics, Salvation, Trinity, Deity of Christ

The Basics

The Lord's Prayer (Matthew 6:9-13)

Our Father, who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy Kingdom come.  Thy will be done,
On Earth, as it is in Heaven
Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses
As we forgive those that trespass against us
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil,
For thine is the Kingdom, and the Power, and the Glory, Forever and ever.
In Jesus' Name, Amen.

John 3:16

For God so loved the World, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.  -John 3:16

Psalm 23  A Psalm of David.

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures:
He leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul:
He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil: for thou art with me;
Thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine  enemies:
Thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of  my life:
And I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.

Salvation

Revelation 3:20

A  Prayer

Dear Lord Jesus,  Thank you for dying on the cross and shedding your precious blood for my sins.  I am sorry for all my sins.  I ask you to come into my heart,  forgive all my sins, and be my Lord and my Savior.

Father, I thank you now for forgiving all my sins and giving me eternal life in Jesus Christ by the power of the Holy Spirit.  In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.

Psalm 100  A Psalm of praise.

Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands.
Serve the Lord with gladness: come before his presence with singing.
Know ye that the Lord he is God:
it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves;
we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.
Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts
with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.
For the Lord is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his
truth endureth to all generations.

The Trinity

Though the specific word, "Trinity" is not found in the Bible, the revelation of the nature of God as: One God; three persons is.  L

Matthew 3:16,17

"And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water:  and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him:  and lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased."  -Matthew 3:16,17

Matthew 28:19

Go ye therefore and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit:  -Matthew 28:19

Psalm 117  Exhortation to praise God.

O Praise the Lord, all ye nations: praise him all ye people.
For his merciful kindness is great toward us: and the truth of
the Lord endureth forever.
Praise ye the Lord.

Deity of Christ

The term, Deity of Christ, means that Jesus Christ was God.  God in the flesh come to earth.  God the Son, the Second Person of the Trinity.  A good way to most clearly understand the meaning of a Verse of Scripture, is to always read it in context.  That means also reading the verses that come before and after it.  Read all of (the Gospel of) John 1:1-18; it is a truly beautiful section of God's Word that teaches the Deity of Christ. Optional Bible Study:  Micah 5:2; Luke 22:38; 22:69; John 3:31; 8:58; 12:45; 14:7; 17:5,24; Romans 1:4; 9:5; I Corinthians 8:6; I Timothy 3:16; Hebrews 1:3; 7:3; Revelation 1:11; 19:16; 22:13.

John 1:1

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.  -John 1:1

John 1:14

And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the  glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.  -John 1:14

Colossians 2:9

For in him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily.  -Colossians 2:9

John 10:30

I and the Father are one.  -John 10:30

Isaiah 9:6

For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.  -Isaiah 9:6

Psalm 150

Praise ye the Lord.
Praise God in his sanctuary:
Praise him in the firmament of his power.
Praise him for his mighty acts:
Praise him according to his excellent greatness.
Praise him with the sound of the trumpet:
Praise him with the psaltery and harp.
Praise him with the timbrel and dance:
Praise him with the stringed instruments and organs.
Praise him upon the loud cymbals:
Praise him upon the high sounding cymbals.
Let everything that hath breath praise the Lord.
Praise ye the Lord.
